73. What Stoicism Teaches Us About Writing
Show Notes

Stoicism is a philosophy that emphasizes detaching our emotions from our life so we can live better. Stoicism is a perfect way to look at writing because we should detach our emotions from the writing process. That does not mean we should write without emotions. Rather, it means we should keep the emotions for the text and not get too emotional about the process. Getting emotional about the process ultimately hinders our chances of success. Moreover, the Stoics emphasized four values: wisdom, justice, courage, and temperance. These are all values we can and should apply to our writing.
