No matter how well-meaning we might be, we always run the risk of being inauthentic in our writing. We can exaggerate or say things that are simply not true. Such is human nature. However, we need to keep ourselves in check and make sure we only write things that are true because our actions follow us. If our actions and writing are incongruent, we lose our readers’ trust, which means we lose our audience not only as an author but also as a person. Truth matters—and it is our responsibility to keep ourselves accountable to the words we write.
