One of the smartest things an author can do is have an ideal reader critique their work as they write it. Not before they write it. Not after they write—as they write it. Authors are bound to make mistakes that include insulting the audience. We need to know how we are doing as per the audience, and having an ideal reader critique our work as we write is the most effective to do. Find someone who is your ideal reader who can read chapters as you write them to give you productive feedback that will help you move forward.
