Show Notes

The other day I ordered a quesadilla at a Mexican fast-food restaurant, and I made a rookie mistake while ordering it. Everything looked delicious, so I put almost everything in the quesadilla. It turned out the quesadilla was not as good as it could have been because there were too many flavours and it overwhelmed my senses. The same is true in writing. If you put everything in a book — if you put all your good ideas, that is — you will quickly overwhelm your reader and you will dilute the effectiveness of your message. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, as Leonardo Da Vinci famously said. It is better to put fewer ideas and to better show its nuances and intricacies than overwhelm your readers with all you know.
