You won’t get that advice often, but it is a good thing to focus on the negative when looking for inspiration. In other words, you must focus on what’s missing from the conversations you are engaged in, and you must think about the negative consequences that ensue from this lack. From there you can start writing and position yourself as a person of relevance, value, and substance. The best, most compelling writing always starts with what’s missing and makes a large contribution to the conversation.
