Logic and rhetoric are both necessary in the making of great writing. You cannot convince your audience simply by telling stories and using rhetorical figures. Nor can you convince your audience simply by laying out rational arguments. The truth is, humans are emotional creatures. You need to appeal to emotions before you appeal to logic. Once you’ve met your audience where they are emotional, you can make a rational case. This is how convincing writing works.
